Welcome to THE RECRUITING DAD!

Updated: May 30, 2022

Introduction and the why!

Hello and welcome to The Recruiting Dad! I’m excited about this blog. I’m excited about where it may go, and I’m excited you are here for the ride!

My goal with The Recruiting Dad is to take you on the journey of my kid’s recruiting process, the ups, the downs, the good, the bad, and everything else to see where she ends up at the end of the journey.

First – A couple rules.

Rule #1 – I need to protect my kid and allow her to have her own recruiting process without me messing it up. So for that reason I plan on keeping her and myself anonymous. Please respect that. In the end, this blog may turn into something else, and at that time we can maybe do an unveiling!

Rule #2 – I will never mention names of schools or coaches, or even give a hint about any of that. I will not bad mouth anyone. Don’t ask for my opinion on a coach or a school. Again not the point of the blog. Let’s keep this professional.

Now that we have established that! HERE WE GO!

Along the way, I will give you my take on how you and I should be handling the recruiting process, helping our kids be their best advocate, and most importantly OWING THE PROCESS! The biggest mistake I have seen out there is players assume coaches are just going to find you. While that does happen, it absolutely does not happen for the majority of players, and for you to assume it will happen for your kid is a dangerous assumption.

I have been coaching collegiate soccer for a long time, longer that I would like to admit. I have spoken about the recruiting process with parents, at camps, with clubs, and now it’s time to see what it’s like from the other side! Throughout the blog I will definitely take some time to talk camps, scholarships, official and unofficial visits, finding the right fit, emails, video, and all things recruiting!

My kid is a 2027 graduate, so we are just now beginning to think about the process for her. In the end it's her choice if she wants to play soccer in college, and if so where she wants to go. This blog will document that journey and hopefully help some others out with their recruiting process!

Lastly, the NCAA is changing, and changing fast! I will do my best to give you my opinion on what those changes mean as they happen and how they may affect you and your recruiting process and your ultimate decision.

I hope you enjoy.
